A place where Haflinger & Jacob Sheep people all over the world can become friends and share pictures of their lovely horses and sheep.
Welcome to Loomis Ranch Haflingers! We love to connect with other Haflinger enthusiasts all over the world. So come and "like" our page so we can become friends and share pictures of these wonderful horses.
My daughter and I sold our rodeo horses to buy our first Haflingers. We defiantly needed two, how about three? Ok so we have 6 now and one on the way. That's what addictions are. Our Haflingers have many talents. We ride in the rodeo on the drill team. We parade and carry flags. We love to trail ride too. But our favorite is to promote our wonderful breed of the Haflinger. We just got back from the Western States Horse Expo where we did a breed demo and had a booth to educate people on this marvelous breed.
Loomis Ranch Jacobs is a small scale sheep farm producing wonderful rare exotic blue eyed bottle fed pet Jacob lambs. On our 10 acre farm we have 20 ewes and two 4 horn blue eyed rams who produce beautiful blue eyed babies.
Jacob sheep are one of several multi horned breeds. Both the rams and ewes are horned. Their wool may be their best asset to the small scale farms hand spinner's flock. They come in three different spot colors, the Black, the Chocolate and the Lilac gray, all on a snow white background. They are docile and easy to handle never using their horns. They are a lightly built animal whose meat is also very good and very lean. With each having their own special markings each is a uniquely rare and different sheep in its own right.
Jacob sheep are hardy animals with high resistance to parasites and disease. Hooves generally only need trimming once a year, even on soft pasture, and sheep only need shearing once a year. Shelter from rain and weather is needed, but the shelter can be open and simple.
Jacob sheep are the oldest living sheep dating back to Genesis 30:30. They are easily raised in the house with a diaper. They drink a bottle every 4-6 hours sleeping through the night at 2 days old.
Sheep are grazers grazing only on grass while goats are browsers who eats weeds and brush. Jacob Sheep are both grazers & browsers making them more efficient on clearing your property. Sheep are easy on fences while goats climb on fences and tear them down.
We are always here for questions. Get on our list for upcoming lambs.
